T-Rick, say what you really think! I hate to conjure a conspiracy theory here, but, what if Stanton has proved to the Lions that he could use a "redshirt" season on the injured reserve?

What if the Lions really want to keep Orlovsky and O'Sullivan, and are left holding the bag about what to do with the nascently developing Stanton? Many scouts were down on Stanton because of the lack of good coaching he received at MSU. They believed that the makeup and talent was there, but the Spartan coaching staff was so bad that Stanton was not prepared to contribute immediately, thus the systematic dismantling that Stanton has been subjected to by Martz since arriving.

Word has long been that Stanton has struggled mightily with the Lions. It makes you wonder about my redshirt hypothesis doesn't it?

In regards to his injury history, I hope you are wrong but the cynical Lions fan in me agrees wholeheartedly, especially considering that they could have one less question mark on defense or the offensive line if they had addressed those needs over selecting Stanton and subsequently trading McCown, who will rush to the Raiders rescue after recently-signed Daunte Culpepper's next knee injury behind that porous Raiders O-line.

Here's the first of many times we'll say this over the next 5 years, Drew Stanton is hurt again. Nice waste of a 2nd round pick.
